In ¨Arlequín¨, the player takes the role of a jester who must entertain a Psycho King.

The King only has fun when the jester gets hurt, but the jester must also balance between the king's laughter and his own life, so the main objectives are:

Making the king laugh, hurting himself
Avoid dying trying

To do this, the jester must avoid things that can kill him instantly, but must go towards what can hurt him and therefore make the king laugh.

Ideally, this should produce a “Risk and Reward” effect in the game: When the player is closest to victory, the player is probably also closest to dying.
